Since 2011 The Language Center, in collaboration with the local institution Caritas, which welcomes dozens of refugees every year, has developed a cultural integration project based on the linguistic training of immigrants.
Since 2022 it has organized Italian courses for Ukrainian refugees in collaboration with Umana Forma.
In fact, the Italian language course has the main purpose of helping immigrant and refugee students to integrate and actively enter the socio-cultural context of the host country, Italy.
Only thanks to a good knowledge of the Italian language can immigrant students integrate both at a social level, making friends with natives and participating in social events in the city, and at a working level, because only speaking Italian well increases the chances of finding a job.
The linguistic-training needs that the project intends to satisfy are mainly those inherent to communication, starting however from the study of the basic grammatical structures, very often acquired by the students themselves in a completely incorrect way by osmosis.
